Before     After     After

Brief: Rear garden of a new build house. The rear patio door opened down directly to a small patio of garden slabs. It was a large drop from the back door to the garden and as a family garden, not suitable for children. The client also wanted to be able to get to the garage without treading on the grass, somewhere to store garden tools and furniture in the winter and was keen to start growing vegetables.

Solution: A generous decking was built directly outside the patio doors. Complete with planters with which to grow fresh herbs for culinary use. The decking was linked to the garage via a boardwalk , a the end of this a small shed was erected to keep the tools and the kids toys as well as the garden furniture during the winter months. Directly outside the shed, two raised beds were created for fresh home grown vegetables. A sandpit was built for the children with a lid to cover it up to avoid any unwanted visitors. All timberwork was stained in contemporary colours which tied it all in together, providing a cohesive new look for the garden, whilst still leaving plenty of space for the children to play in.
