Before     After     After

Brief: Front garden, small strip of garden in front of the house originally grassed but not maintained due to the hassle of bring an electric lawnmower out to the front of the house. There was a crumbling brick wall which didn’t conform with rules regarding the house’s conservation status and also a lack of colour in the front garden due to the houses monochrome external frontage.

Solution: To remove the existing external wall and replace it with a fence more in keeping with the conservation requirements of the estate, this was modernised with the use of a contemporary external colour palette of timber stain which ties in with the existing colours used at the front of the house. The old lawn was stripped and replaced with gravel, again echoing the colour of the house. The design was completed with the addition of oversized planters, with hints of various colours that would eventually suggest the colours for the plants that were to be planted within. Two box cubes were added as boundary markers within their own custom built planters also stained in the same Black ash exterior stain.
